FAQs
When will the full programme be released?
The full programme will not be confirmed until much closer to the conference, however a draft program will be released in July.
Will I be sent my conference pass in advance?
After purchasing your ticket(s) you will receive tickets in a confirmation email, sent to the email address you provided. The email will be from the ticketing platform, Humanitix. If you can’t find your ticket, first check your email spam folder. If there is still no sign of your ticket, click the ‘Contact host’ button on the VAD National Conference 2023 event page, select ‘Can’t find my ticket/invoice’ and fill out the form. Your tickets will automatically be sent to you.
How do virtual passes work?
Virtual passes allow you to watch the event online from another location. They work in exactly the same way as other tickets; health professionals can choose from one or two day passes, and everyone else can purchase a virtual pass for the second day of the conference. You get most of the same content, however you will not be able to participate in interactive sessions. These tickets are cheaper than attending in-person. If you purchase a virtual pass, you will receive a confirmation email from Humanitix. A link to join the event will be emailed to you on the morning of the event.
Can I buy tickets for more than one person?
You can purchase tickets for more than one person, but you will need to enter full details for each attendee of the conference at the checkout. Each individual will need their ticket on their personal device on the day so we can check you in separately.
Why is the first day health professionals only?
Our Conference Advisory Panel requested a day exclusively for VAD health professionals to meet and discuss their frontline experiences with colleagues and interstate counterparts. Many VAD providers do not get a lot of time to meet or build relationships with others doing the same job. The second day welcomes a much broader range of policymakers, politicians, peak bodies and health organisations. Health professionals are encouraged to purchase a two-day pass.
Who counts as a health professional?
For the purposes of this conference, a health professional is a clinician working in a clinical capacity in VAD and/or end-of-life care. For example, doctors, nurses, care navigators and pharmacists.
Will there be any networking opportunities during the conference?
Yes, throughout each day there will be breaks and chances to speak to other attendees. There is also the opportunity to opt-in to a delegate list that will be shared before the conference so you know who else is attending. If you opt-out, you will not receive this list ahead of the event.
Are you accepting abstracts?
No, we are not accepting abstracts this year. We have worked closely with our Conference Advisory Panel to devise the conference content and format.
Do you recommend any hotels close to the venue?
We do not have any relationships with hotels in Sydney. The closest hotels to the venue are Mercure Sydney, The Old Clare Hotel, Novotel Sydney Central and Four Points by Sheraton Sydney.
How can I get to the venue on the day?
The venue is University of Technology Sydney and the closest train station is Central Station - roughly a 12 minute walk away. More details and maps will be provided closer to the date.
How does the waitlist work?
If no in-person tickets are available to purchase, you can join the waitlist. If people cancel or can no longer attend, tickets may become available. At this point, they will be released to the waitlist so you will need to keep an eye on your email.
What if I can no longer attend the conference?
For information on our cancellations and refunds policy, please refer to our Terms & Conditions.
Can I transfer my ticket to someone else?
Yes, but we would need to be notified of your replacement. It’s important for safety reasons that we know who is present on the day. For further details, please refer to our Terms & Conditions.
Are discounts available?
As charities ourselves, Go Gentle and VADANZ are unable to provide full discounts. However, all tickets for health professionals have been substantially discounted, including virtual passes. If you cannot afford to attend otherwise, please send a short email of no more than 250 words to [email protected] explaining your situation and we will do all we can to help.
Does this conference qualify for CPD?
Yes. You will need to contact your professional body for more information.
What catering is provided?
Morning tea, a light lunch and afternoon tea are provided, as well as tea, coffee and drinks throughout the day. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options will be available if you specify this when you sign up. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee any other diets can be catered for. Numerous cafes are on-site where you can purchase other refreshments. No food is allowed in the main lecture theatre, but otherwise you are welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks on-site.
Evening events will be lightly catered with canapes and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
