WA VAD Bill passes Upper House
The Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2019 has passed through the Western Australian Upper House.
The final vote was 24 to 11. Compare this margin of 13 to that of Victoria two years ago (4). It says a great deal about the progress of this debate in Australia.
However, because 55 amendments were made to the Bill, it isn’t law ... yet.
The amendments will now need to be approved in the Lower House.
The government has recalled members of the Legislative Assembly for a special sitting on Tuesday 10 December, when we expect a final vote to take place.
We will keep you updated on the progress.
