Leave us a gift in your Will

Your Will reflects who you are and what you value in life.

Choosing to leave a gift in your Will (also known as a bequest, endowment or legacy) is a powerful way to sustain the work of Go Gentle Australia and ensure choice for future generations.

Go Gentle's work was key to voluntary assisted dying (VAD) laws passing in all six Australian states and the ACT. However there is still much work to do.

With your support, we will:

  • Ensure the Northern Territory joins the rest of Australia in passing a VAD law
  • Pass, defend and improve VAD laws
  • Support VAD services
  • Get the word out about VAD as a respected end-of-life choice and remove stigma

Your Will can provide security and peace of mind in the knowledge that the important things you care about have been recorded. Of course, you need to provide for your loved ones, but you may also like to consider a bequest to a charity like Go Gentle that is working hard to protect your end-of-life rights.

The amount you choose to give is not important. Every bequest, large or small, will help us achieve our vision for an Australia where we can all make end-of-life choices that are right for us.

The correct wording when leaving a gift in a Will

If you wish to make a bequest to Go Gentle Australia, it is important to include the correct wording in your Will. The following words provide the basic information, including Go Gentle's full legal name and our ABN (all required for a bequest):

I give to Go Gentle Australia Limited (ABN 61 613 668 643):

•  The rest and residue of my Estate or

•                                     percent of my Estate or

•                                     percent of the residue of my Estate or

•  The sum of  $

free of all duties and testamentary expenses for its general purposes and I direct that the receipt of that organisation shall be sufficient discharge to my executor(s) for this bequest. It is my wish and intention, without being a condition or direction, that these funds be used for general purposes of Go Gentle Australia.

Legal Consideration

While you can write your own Will, we recommend you engage a legal professional (a solicitor or public trustee) who can ensure all details and considerations have been taken into account. This is especially the case if you wish to consider a gift for a specific purpose. You can find a solicitor through The Law Society in your state or territory.

Help safeguard choice for generations to come

My father Kit died an unnecessarily painful death from heart failure. I loved my Dad, he chose to live a good life and I wish he had the option to die a good death.
If you believe, as I do, that it's the right and loving thing to have choice at the end of life, then please include Go Gentle Australia in your Will. Your gift will give future Australians the comfort of knowing they can choose to go gently. Thank you.

Thank you
Andrew Denton
