What you need to know
To help your visit run smoothly, we've gathered everything you need in one place.
How to get there
Address:
The conference will be held at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Gardens Point Campus: Level 4, Z Block, Lamington Drive
Transport Options:
We recommend using public transport when travelling around Brisbane. Translink is currently offering $0.50 fares across the Brisbane public transport network (more info) and you can tap on and off with your debit/credit card to pay for travel.
You can travel to and from QUT Gardens Point by bus, train, CityCat (ferry), taxi/rideshare or car.
The campus has its own CityCat stop, and is a short walk from Central and South Bank train stations, and King George Square and Queen Street bus stations.
The taxi/rideshare pick-up and drop-off is located at the QUT Gardens Point main entrance on the corner of George Street and Alice Street.
Paid parking is available. A discounted rate of $5.00/hour applies with a validated ticket. To redeem this discounted rate, present your parking ticket at the registration desk for validation.
Walking from VOCO:
Our partner accommodation VOCO Brisbane City Centre is 1.2km from the conference venue. If you are staying at VOCO, please allow approximately 20 minutes to walk to between venues (directions below).
You can also catch the CityCat two stops from North Quay to the QUT Gardens Point terminal, which is located directly behind Z Block.
Registration:
You will find the registration desk in Z Block, Level 4. On Day 1 conference registration is from 8am, with doors opening from 8:15am. We are expecting a full house so please collect your nametag from the registration desk on arrival and take your seat promptly.
Please wear your nametag at all times. This is your pass to the conference. If you are attending both days of the conference you will only need to present at the registration desk on Day 1, then please retain your nametag for Day 2.
Please note, the conference team may ask you to present your tickets at any time.
Where can I find my ticket?:
Your tickets are attached to the confirmation email you would have received from the ticketing platform, Humanitix. Remember, this may have been sent to your business or personal email address. If you can't find your ticket, first check your email spam or junk folder. If you still cannot locate your ticket, click the 'Contact Host' button on the VADCON24 event page, select 'Can't find my ticket/invoice' and fill out the form. Your tickets will automatically be sent to you.
Wi-fi
All conference participants can register for free QUT Wi-fi. To make connecting easier, please register before coming on site.
Attendees from other universities can use eduroam by connecting from your institution first before attending QUT. 4G and 5G should also perform well on campus.
What to bring:
We encourage you to bring the following items:
- Notepad and pen
- Refillable water bottle (water refill stations available onsite)
- Phone charger and portable power bank
- Venues are airconditioned so it may be a good idea to bring a light layer
Please note, Brisbane weather in October can be unpredictable so please be mindful of the forecast and dress accordingly. Some rain and potential thunderstorms are expected.
Where to eat and drink:
Morning tea, a light lunch, and afternoon tea will be provided, and there are plenty of options for breakfast and dinner within walking distance of QUT Gardens Point and VOCO Brisbane City Centre.
DIETARY REQUIREMENTS:
Thank you for providing your dietary requirements when registering. If you forgot to advise your dietary requirements, please urgently email [email protected] and we will try our best to accommodate your request.
Please note, people with allergies or other specific requirements will be served at a separate table. Please follow the caterer's instructions and make yourself known to the conference team if you are unsure where to collect your food during the breaks.
